New County Wide Local Pass For Cliffs Of Moher Visitor Experience

The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience has announced details of a Local Pass which is being introduced in August 2010.

The pass will be available to all residents of County Clare and will allow the holder unlimited visits to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience and access to all facilities, including parking and the Atlantic Edge Exhibition.

The Local Pass will cost €12 per person and will consist of a photo ID that will allow the bearer to visit the County Clare visitor attraction as many times as they like during its validity period.  The pass will be available from August 2010 and will be valid until 31st December 2011.

Open evenings will be held in August and September at the Cliffs and in Ennis to allow local residents to come along and find out more about the pass and sign up if they wish to do so.

According to Katherine Webster, Director of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience: “We have been seeking a way to accommodate locals who wish to visit the Cliffs on a regular basis without incurring a charge each time they visit.  Moving to a person based charge rather than a vehicle based charge has allowed us to do this.  The issue was raised by local councillors and others and we wanted to take these concerns on board and move swiftly to address them.”

The announcement of the Local Pass follows the announcement of a new Family Friendly Pricing structure at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience.  From mid August 2010 adults will pay €6 per person with children going free.  The age at which children go free to the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience has also been extended from under 12 to under 16 to encompass a larger volume of family groups.  A discounted rate of €4 per person will apply for Senior Citizens, Students and Disabled visitors.

The per head price replaces the vehicle based €8 facilities charge and the separate €4.95 admission charge to the Atlantic Edge Exhibition.    A family visiting the Cliffs will now pay €12.00 compared to €21.95 under the previous pricing arrangements.

“We will be announcing details of a Multi Visit Pass and other promotional passes ahead of the 2011 season. The new pricing structure will also help us to provide discounted rates during low season or off peak times”, added Ms. Webster.

Cliffs of Moher Local Open Evenings:
Open Evenings for Local Residents will take place at the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience from 5pm to 9pm on the following evenings – Thursday 26th August,  Friday 10th September and Wednesday 15th September.  Details of an open evening in Ennis duri9ng September will be announced in the coming weeks.

The Local Pass application form can also be downloaded from the Cliffs of Moher website www.cliffsofmoher.ie  and postal applications will also be accepted.
